Part-Time Clinical Dietitian

Position Description:  
Reliable Medical Supply, leader in Home Medical Equipment and recipient of the 2014 National HME Excellence Award and the 2015 and 2016 Star Tribune Top Workplaces award, is looking for a part-time clinical dietitian. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills and experience doing comprehensive nutrition assessments, with an emphasis on enteral nutrition. This position is 3 days per week.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Must be a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Must be licensed in the State of Minnesota
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of clinical nutrition experience, with emphasis on enteral nutrition

Job Duties:  

  • Complete comprehensive nutrition assessments for patients utilizing the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Process.
  • Clinically assess patients receiving enteral feedings, including evaluation of formula type and amount, administration and other parameters as needed, communicating recommendations efficiently and effectively to the physician and care team.
  • Provides ongoing monitoring and follow-up as appropriate.
  • Identifies educational needs of patients and caregivers.
  • Works with interdepartmental staff ensuring new admissions medically qualify and meet criteria for nutrition therapy.
  • Serves as a clinical nutrition educator and as a support resource to external customers.
  • Communicates with physicians, outside hospital and clinic dietitians and nursing where applicable to ensure quality continuum of care and best outcomes for patient.
  • Maintains proficiency in all Clinical Dietitian skills.
  • Manages company wellness programs for employees.

This position is responsible for obtaining prior authorizations, gathering insurance qualifying documentation, verifying insurance benefits and obtaining required prescriptions. Clinical Liaison

Position Description:

A minimum of five years of Respiratory Therapy experience is required. This position reports to the CEO.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain effective professional relationships with clients and facilities
  • Responsible for product and clinical presentations to referral sources and customers to increase their knowledge base of all of Reliable Medical Supply's respiratory product line, as well as the latest information available on disease management as it relates to all products we carry
  • Must be proactive in identifying and addressing market needs and customer requirements with the Account Executives
  • Required to stay up-to-date on reimbursement issues/guidelines and clinical practices in the homecare, hospital and transitional care settings
  • Provides feedback to the Sales manager and Respiratory Care Manager regarding potential new business, program development, new ideas on enhancing respiratory department and customer needs
  • Works closely with Sales Manager and Account Executives to assist in strategy development and account targeting
  • Supports Reliable Medical Supply's hospitalists and Customer Service staff located outside of Corporate Office
  • Must be an available resource for referral sources and internal staff regarding clinical and reimbursement guidelines, as well as clinical application of all respiratory products
  • Must demonstrate effective time management skills and flexibility
  • Must participate in sales and respiratory department meetings

Skills Required:

  • Must have excellent driving record
  • Must have current clinical MN license
  • Must have Associate's Degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited  college or university
  • Complete CEU's as required by State of MN

This position works closely with CEO, Chief Controller and VP of Operations to identify performance improvement opportunities and drive results.

Primary activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Enters Purchase Orders and Vendor Invoices into QuickBooks and reconciles vendor statements to ensure accuracy
  • Assists in preparation of month-end financials to include various reconciliations of General Ledger accounts
  • Creates monthly inventory-in-transit detail numbers from the General Ledger
  • Provides analytics and statistics to CEO, VP of Operations and department heads
  • Maintains pricing tables for various insurance companies and HCPC codes
  • Works cohesively with Purchasing and management to obtain corporate financial goals and objectives

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Requires 4 year Accounting and/or Finance Degree

Other duties include education for both professional and non-professional caregivers as well as coordination of care with physicians, nursing staff and social workers.

Skills Required: Background in home health care is preferred. However, licensed RTs with hospital or other related experience also welcome. Extensive knowledge of respiratory equipment is required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Ability to multi-task is required. Must have proficient knowledge of MS Office programs.

The ideal candidate will have their RRT credential with minimum of one year of clinical experience, possess sound clinical judgment and have experience in a home care setting with proven ability to deal effectively with employees, customers and referral sources.

Background in DME or health related industry is required. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills. This position works with our Accounts Receivable Department. Must be knowledgeable of insurance requirements and have the ability to determine medical justification through documentation to ensure proper reimbursement. This position also assists in coordinating and maintaining professional reimbursement processes to ensure compliance with current payments, rules and legislative regulations that impact billing and collection, daily billing of claims, following up on AR, and running/working scheduled reports.

Skills Required: Qualified candidates must possess a working knowledge of medical billing (3 years minimum), preferable in the DME industry. Candidate must be up-to-date on current insurance policy rules and regulations that impact billing and collections, as well as regulatory changes.
