Repair Procedures

Q: How long will it take to get my wheelchair looked at for a repair?

A: We schedule most of our appointments two days out. So if you call in on Monday, we will be able to see you on Wednesday. If your wheelchair is inoperable, we will try to schedule same day service.

Q: If parts are needed for my equipment how long will it take to get them?

A: We get our orders shipped directly from the manufactures. This order process takes an average of 8-10 Business days. Special arrangements can be made if you would like to pay for overnight shipping.

Q: What is covered under warranty on my wheelchair?

A: All manufactures list their warranty parts in your owner’s manual. They do not cover wear and tear items such as upholstery, arm pads and leg rests.

Q: What happens if my chair brakes down on the weekend?

A: We have an on-call technician, available for emergency situations from 9-5pm Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Click here for information on how to contact us.

Power Wheelchair Repairs

Q: My power wheel chair is not driving, what can I check before I call for service?

A: You should first check to be sure each motor is engaged. Take each motor out of gear and put it back into gear, turn the chair off, then on and try it again. If this doesn’t resolve the problem, make sure your chair is not tilted too much. If your chair has a tilt feature, bring it back to the “home” position so that your chair is in the standard upright position. If your wheelchair still does not work you will need to call the service department.

Q: Why is my power chair not charging?

A: Is your battery charger connected to an outlet that is controlled by a wall switch? You may be turning off the charger without knowing it. Batteries general last from 12- 18 months. You may just simply need new batteries

Q: Why is my power chair not driving and all the lights are blinking?

A: Several manufactures use the lights on your joystick as a diagnostic tool. You will need to count the number of lights flashing (3 red, 1 yellow etc) and call the Service Department to help you determine which course of action to take.

Q: Why doesn’t my tilt work?

A: The most common problem associated with this is a wire becoming disconnected. Remove anything that may be on the back of the chair (i.e. backpacks, bags, etc.) and look for any wires that are unplugged. If you can see a wire that is unplugged, and know for sure where it plugs into, plug it in. If you are not sure were to plug it in call our service department and we can schedule an appointment.

Q: Why is my chair running so slow?

A: Many chairs have a ¼ speed inhibit that does not allow the chair to drive its full speed while the chair is tilted or elevated. Make sure you seat is in the full upright position and your seat elevator (if equipped) is lowered all the way down.
