Job Summary:

This position is an integral part of Reliable Medical.  The successful candidate will have good customer service skills to meet the daily responsibilities while dealing with people inside and outside the company.  This person should have knowledge of healthcare, healthcare terminology, and healthcare insurance.  Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment will be necessary.  Being able to handle multiple priorities at a given moment is common.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Completes health insurance verification to determine coverage of service/repair to patient owned equipment.
  • Generates the forms required by the specific insurance for equipment coverage.
  • Collects required documents from Practitioners for coverage and submission to payer (continued need chart notes, detailed prescriptions, letters of medical necessity etc.).
  • Completes review of clinical documentation to ensure coverage criteria is met.
  • Submits prior authorization requests if required and logs authorization when received.
  • Notifies and collects the necessary coinsurance and non-covered items before ordering or delivery after payer resources have been established. Ability to balance patient needs with company’s financial needs.
  • Handles communication with patients as required.
  • Documents all correspondence in the Patient Notes within the Management software.
  • Follow up on documentation and correspondence is done on a weekly basis to ensure files are moved through the system and timeliness of service is not compromised.
  • Communicates with Management, and referrals as required.
  • Ensures that any Held Billing is addressed as a priority to ensure timeliness of claim submission.
  • Provides input to management to improve workplace function.
  • Reviews pertinent industry literature regularly
  • Regular attendance is essential
  • Attend educational workshops as needed or assigned.
  • HIPAA and other compliance training.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field highly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of directly related experience as mentioned above required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility.
  • Hearing, seeing, and talking are required for this position.
  • May require travel.
